- 1 pound Asparagus (trimmed, cut into 1/2-inch pieces)
- 1 medium Onion (peeled and diced)
- 4 cloves Garlic (peeled and minced)
- 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (cut into pieces)
- 6 cups Chicken Broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian version)
- 0.5 lemon Lemon (juice only)
- 3 tablespoons Parmesan Cheese (freshly grated)
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper (ground)

Instructions
Prepare Ingredients
Peel the garlic cloves and mince them. Peel and dice the onion. Trim the woody ends off the asparagus and cut the spears into 1/2‑inch pieces.
