Ingredients
- 3 pieces Gala Apples (peeled, cored and diced 2 cm cubes)
- 150 g Unsalted butter (at room temperature, softened)
- 150 g White sugar (granulated)
- 3 pieces Eggs (medium size)
- 1 tablespoon White rum (optional, adds a subtle aroma)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla powder (or 1 vanilla bean split)
- 1 packet Baking powder (about 10 g)
- 150 g All-purpose flour (sift if desired)
- 100 g Sugar (caramel) (granulated)
- 2 tablespoons Water (for the caramel)
Instructions
Prepare the caramel
Mix the sugar (100 g) and water (2 tbsp) in a small saucepan. Bring to medium heat without stirring, shaking the pan occasionally until a golden blond color is achieved.

Pour the caramel into the pan
Remove the pan from the heat and immediately pour the caramel into the bottom of the glass baking dish, spreading it gently to avoid glass cracks.

Prepare the cake batter
In the bowl, cream the softened butter with the sugar (150 g) using a mixer until a smooth paste forms. Add the eggs one at a time, beating between each addition.
