Ingredients
- 14 oz Extra Firm Tofu (pressed and diced into 1‑inch cubes)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 tbsp Light Soy Sauce (regular soy sauce)
- 1 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce (adds color and depth)
- 1 tbsp Vegetarian Oyster Sauce (or vegetarian stir‑fry sauce)
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing Wine (or dry sherry)
- 1 tsp Sugar (granulated)
- 1 tsp Rice Vinegar
- 4 tbsp Cornstarch (2 tbsp for sauce slurry, 2 tbsp for coating)
- 1/4 cup Water
- 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil (for frying)
- 2 stalks Green Onions (thinly sliced for garnish)
- 1 tsp Sesame Seeds (toasted)
Instructions
Press and Dice Tofu
Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel, place a weight on top, and let it press for at least 15 minutes. Then cut the tofu into 1‑inch cubes.

Prepare the Sauce
In a mixing bowl whisk together light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, vegetarian oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, sugar, rice vinegar, 2 tbsp cornstarch, and water until smooth.

Spread the remaining 2 tbsp cornstarch on a plate. Toss each tofu cube in the cornstarch, shaking off excess, until every piece is lightly coated.

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium‑high heat (about 350°F). Add the coated tofu in a single layer and fry, turning once, until all sides are golden and crisp, about 3‑4 minutes per side.
