- 4 cup Water (added to prevent burning and aid mixing)
Instructions
Prepare Protein and Liver Blend
In a food processor, combine the ground protein (beef, turkey, or lamb), diced sweet potatoes, and beef liver. Pulse until the mixture is uniformly ground but still has some texture.
Time: PT15M
Add Eggs and Spinach
Transfer the blended mixture to a large pot. Stir in the appropriate eggs (whole eggs for beef and lamb, egg yolks for turkey) and the thawed, squeezed spinach.
Time: PT5M
Incorporate Supplements
Add nutritional yeast, hemp seeds, calcium carbonate powder, bone meal powder, vitamin E liquid, choline capsule contents, sea salt, zinc capsule contents, cod liver oil, and kelp powder. Stir thoroughly to distribute evenly.
Time: PT5M
Add Water and Cook
Pour in 4 cups of water (or enough to keep the mixture from sticking). Cook over medium‑low heat, stirring frequently, for 45 minutes until the meat is fully cooked and the sweet potatoes are tender. No browning should occur.
Time: PT45M
Temperature: Medium‑low
Cook Grains Separately
While the protein mixture simmers, cook white rice and barley according to package directions (no added salt or oil). Once cooked, set aside.
Time: PT20M
Temperature: Boiling
Combine Grains with Protein Base
When the protein mixture is done and any excess liquid has evaporated, fold in the cooked rice and barley until evenly distributed.
Time: PT5M
Portion into Super Cubes
Allow the final mixture to cool slightly (no more than 40°C). Spoon the mixture into a silicone ice‑cube tray, filling each cavity to the top. For a 40‑lb dog, each cube represents one day’s worth of food.
Time: PT10M
Freeze
Place the tray in the freezer for at least 6 hours or overnight until solid. Once frozen, pop the cubes out and store them in labeled Ziploc freezer bags.
Time: PT6H
Defrost and Serve
When ready to feed, submerge the sealed bag containing one cube in cold water for 15‑20 minutes until thawed. Warm gently in a microwave (low power) or on the stovetop if desired, but avoid high heat to preserve nutrients.
Time: PT20M
